Two terrorists killed in Baramulla in second encounter in 24 hours: report

Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed in Kashmir's Baramulla district during a pre-dawn encounter, police said.

The second encounter in the last 24 hours was reported from the district’s Kreeri area after security forces launched operation following intelligence inputs.

The security forces have been put on a high alert following inputs about terrorists planning a major attack in next few days, NDTV reported.

The operation was launched based on inputs about the presence of terrorists in Wanigam village, according to the police.

One AK rifle and a pistol were recovered from the site of the encounter, police said .

Vijay Kumar, the Additional Director General of Police, said the terrorists killed in the encounter were Lashkar-e-Taiba’s local recruits who had joined the terrorist group a month ago.

Meanwhile, two terrorist were killed after police and Army reportedly foiled an infiltration attempt at Line of Control in Machil sector of Kupwara district, recovering two AK rifles and ammunition at the site.

Jammu has been put on high alert based on intelligence inputs about a major attack in the area.

Alongside, the search for terrorists who decamped with weapons after killing five soldiers in Poonch last month has failed to yield any breakthrough.
