New Delhi: A six-year-old was allegedly killed as a human sacrifice in Delhi. Two men - Vijay and Amar - have been arrested for slitting the child's throat.
A senior police official said the accused have confessed to the crime. Vijay was reportedly under the influence of drugs when he dreamt that God demanded sacrifice. Both accused are natives of Bihar. The police have recovered the weapon, a kitchen knife, used for murder.
Vijay and Amar were living in the same slum as the child and committed the crime to gain "prosperity". Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Choudhary said they attacked his head first and then slit his throat.
"Vijay said that after consuming ganja, he went to the place where the ladies were singing bhajans and asked for incense for worshipping Lord Shiva, which was denied. After that, he returned to his shanty where he dreamt that Lord Shiva was asking for the sacrifice of a child. The accused found the victim (Dharmender) alone and took him to his room and murdered him by slitting his throat," said the police officer.
The police received a call about the incident on Saturday and the crime team and FSL team were called to the spot. A case was registered under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention). The boy's body was moved to AIIMS Trauma Centre for post-mortem.
The Father of the deceased child said the women were signing bhajan at the construction site after dinner. When they came back to their shanties, they found the boy to be missing and started searching. After blood oozing out from a shanty was spotted, they went in and found the boy's body under the bed.
