New Delhi: Twitter has expanded the availability of its location spotlight tool to support businesses across the globe. Earlier, it was limited to the US, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
The newly available feature will allow businesses everywhere to display their location address, hours of operation, and additional contact details on their profiles. The goal of the new feature is to allow businesses, brands, creators, and publishers to "have a unique and clearly defined presence on the platform". Twitter also wants to back brands' ability to grow and strengthen their presence on Twitter.
Twitter in a statement said that the platform is proud of the foundation it laid with the initial suite of products unveiled to date. "We are excited to continue introducing new ways to help professionals achieve business success on Twitter." The microblogging platform is also introducing a monthly live series called "Taking Care of Business" to support newbie entrepreneurs.
Users of the social media platform will be able to easily see vital information about a business when they visit a certain brand's account on Twitter. This is expected to boost familiarity and make information more accessible. Similar to Google Maps, tapping on the location of a certain business will also provide directions to get to the store.
Businesses can also customise the feature to display the preferred days and hours for people to visit their location.
