Twitter gets Delhi Police notice for flagging Patra's tweet 'manipulated media'

New Delhi: Delhi Police Special Cell has sent a notice to Twitter over the alleged toolkit controversy, sources said on Monday.

The Delhi Police sources said that the Special Cell has sent notice to Twitter for describing a tweet as "manipulated media" in connection with the alleged toolkit controversy, that erupted last week.

On May 19, the microblogging site had marked the BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra's tweet on the Congress toolkit as 'manipulated media', a label it grants to tweets that it deems are misleading in nature.

In the notice, police have asked Twitter to share all the information with it, on how it described the toolkit as manipulated media.

However, Delhi Police is yet to register a case in the matter.

The Congress last week had approached Delhi Police with a complaint against BJP national president J.P. Nadda, party spokesperson Sambit Patra, party leader B.L. Santhosh and Union Minister Smriti Irani and others over the alleged toolkit matter and accusing them of "forgery".
