Tim Cook announces new Apple stores in Bengaluru and Pune ahead of iPhone 17 launch

New Delhi: Apple CEO Tim Cook has announced the opening of two new official retail outlets in India, with stores set to launch in Bengaluru’s Hebbal and Pune’s Koregaon Park. The move comes as the US tech giant continues to expand its physical retail presence in the country.

Taking to X on Thursday, Cook wrote: “Say hello to Apple Hebbal in Bengaluru and Apple Koregaon Park in Pune! We are thrilled to continue to bring the best of Apple to customers across India at these two new stores.”

The Bengaluru outlet, Apple Hebbal, was scheduled to open at the Phoenix Mall of Asia on September 2, 2025, becoming the company’s third store in India after Apple BKC in Mumbai and Apple Saket in Delhi. Its barricade design featured peacock feathers in tribute to India’s national bird. The store offers Apple’s full product range, expert support, and “Today at Apple” sessions.

Following this, Apple is preparing to launch its fourth store in India at KOPA Mall in Pune’s Koregaon Park. The 10,000 sq ft outlet will be the company’s first official store in Maharashtra outside Mumbai and is expected to open in early September.

Cook’s announcement was made during Apple’s earnings call, where he also indicated more outlets will open in India before the end of 2025. Reports suggest Apple is planning at least four new stores, with upcoming locations likely including Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, and Noida.

The expansion comes on the back of Apple’s record-breaking first quarter of FY25, when the iPhone emerged as the best-selling smartphone in India, reflecting the company’s growing influence in the market.

Apple is also recruiting across various roles for its new outlets, ranging from customer support to store leadership.

The launch of these stores coincides with Apple’s ramped-up local manufacturing. The complete iPhone 16 series was assembled in India, and production of the iPhone 17 lineup has already begun, with Foxconn handling the standard models and a Tata-backed facility set to assemble the Pro and Pro Max variants.

With the iPhone 17 expected to debut soon, the timing of the new store launches is seen as strategic, offering customers direct access to Apple’s upcoming devices.

Apple entered India’s direct-to-consumer market in 2020 with its online store and later launched the Apple Store app in 2024. Its first physical outlets in Mumbai and Delhi opened in April 2023.
