Thwart attempts to breach peace during Eid-ul-Fitr: Muslim bodies

New Delhi: Leaders of prominent associations of Muslims, including the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and Jamiatul Ulama-e-Hind, have issued a joint appeal for peace on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr, given the political situation here. They appealed to the addressees to thwart attempts by miscreants to create mischief on the festive day, which is in a few days.

In the joint statement, they advised the members to lodge complaints with the local administration and police if they came to know about attempts to disrupt peace in their respective areas, India Tomorrow reported.

The statement asked local community leaders to hold meetings with respective local administrations and police. Muslims to contact the representatives of their religious groups to release an appeal to the Muslims not to indulge in activities that disturb peace under pressure from other any political or criminal groups' provocation.

Further, the appeal advised that local community representatives gather prominent personalities from other religious groups, independent journalists and human rights activists outside Eidgah and install CCTV cameras too. Muslims must remain extremely peaceful while attending the Eid prayers and avoid succumbing to provocations, it said. Also, the clergy members should be careful with their words while delivering the 'Khutba', because their speeches must not be distorted and used as weapons against the Muslim community later, it added.
