New Delhi: Hours after reports of physical clash involving its troops, China said situation is stable at the borders with India, India Today reported.
China's foreign ministry spokesperson was responding to reports of the clash for the first time since the news emerged in the media today.
Indian and Chinese troops engaged in the physical clash in a first flare-up in more than a year.
Around 200 Chinese soldiers, carrying spiked clubs and sticks, involved in the attack on December 9.
The fight broke out at the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang Sector in a repeat of another fight months ago.
"As far as we understand, the China-India border situation is stable overall," foreign ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin reportedly said.
Wang Wenbin added that the two sides went ahead with "unobstructed dialogue on the border issue through diplomatic and military channels."
Indian Army Jawans stopped an attempt of more than 300 Chinese soldiers to reach the top of 17,000-ft peak, sources said.
The Indian side reportedly averted the Chinese's attempt to 'uproot' an Indian post in the area, which is now, under snow. Both sides immediately disengaged from the area.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the parliament that the Indian Army bravely stopped the Chinese PLA from "unilaterally" changing the status quo in the Yangtse area.
He added that Indian troops suffered no fatalities or serious injuries in the scuffle.
