Telangana to test 1,200 UK returnees

Hyderabad : Telangana health officials are collecting details of flyers from UK for a sweeping covid 19 test.

1,200 passengers arrived directly from UK to the state after December 9 will have to take medical tests. The health department officials will visit their homes for the same. .

Director of public health G. Srinivasa Rao has said the officials are asking after their health.

Official say they are fully alert on the new strain of virus that hit UK, and will employ tracing testing and treatment to contain the virus.

However none of the UK returnees have tested positive so far, officials say.

The government's timely decisions and measures and with people's cooperation, the state has been successful in controlling the spread of the virus and the number of deaths, according to G. Srinivasa Rao.

"We urge people to cooperate in the same fashion in the future also. People need not worry or get panicked with the new virus strain but they should be vigilant. Using mask properly, following physical distancing and washing your hands regularly is important," he added.
