Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has demanded for recounting of cancelled postal ballot votes in the recently ended legislative assembly elections.
At a press conference held here on Thursday, he raised questions about the cancellation of a few postal ballots. He said that about 20 candidates of Grand Alliance were deliberately defeated.
"Around 900 postal votes were cancelled in one constituency. When Grand Alliance candidate asked the Returning Officer for a written explanation, they refused to give it. Therefore, there Grand Alliance demands for recounting."
Presenting a data on vote share, there is only a .1 difference between NDA and Grand Alliance which translates to 12270 votes. However, with this difference, NDA won 15 seats more than Grand Alliance, Tejashwi pointed out.
The 31 year old leader expressed his gratitude towards Bihar's people and added, "the mandate favoured Grand Alliance, but Election Commission's result was in NDA's favour. This was not for the first time. In 2015, when Grand Alliance was formed, votes were in our favour. But BJP mad a back-door entry to gain power."
"Nitish Kumar might be sitting in the chief minister's chair. But RJD has a place in people's hearts," Tejashwi said.
