Women's panel seeks action for derogatory remarks against Muslim women on Clubhouse

New Delhi: A notice issued by Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) orders police to take action against the individuals making obscene comments on the Muslim women in audio-based social media platform, Clubhouse.

The notice from DCW asked police to file FIR against the people who engaged in misogynistic conversation. This group conversation was carried out using the title "Muslim gals are more beautiful than Hindu garls". The statement reads as follows: The panel took suo motu cognizance of the chat in which "participants are clearly heard making obscene, vulgar and derogatory remarks targeting Muslim women and girls",

DCW has ordered an immediate action and also to submit the report within 5 days.

DCW chairperson Swati Maliwal expressed her shock in the incident and also stated, "Someone tagged me on Twitter the detailed audio conversation on the Clubhouse app which targeted Muslim women and girls and made disgusting sexual comments against them."

Further, the statement added "I feel outraged over the fact that such incidents are going on increasing in the country. Strongest action needs to be taken against the culprits and that's why I have issued a notice to Delhi Police seeking immediate FIR and arrests in the matter,"

An audio clip from Clubhouse conversation was widely circulated in the social media planforms. Netizens expressed their rage and also asked for strict action against the people involved in this.
