SRK and Adani among PM Modi's oath ceremony attendees

A host of influential personalities, including industrialists Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani, along with superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Rajinikanth, and Akshay Kumar, attended Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi's oath ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

PM Modi is set to be sworn in for his third term as Prime Minister, this time heavily reliant on support from coalition partners. His party, the BJP, secured 240 seats in the recent election, falling 32 seats short of the 272 needed for a majority. Key allies in the coalition include Chandrababu Naidu's Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU).

The ceremony is drawing significant attention as the new Prime Minister is yet to announce his cabinet lineup. Around 50 ministers are expected to take the oath on the constitution during the event, making it a crucial moment for the incoming administration.

While the BJP achieved comfortable majorities in the 2014 and 2019 elections, it did not replicate this success in 2024, falling short of expectations set by analysts and exit polls.

Among the attendees were actor Vikrant Massey and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani. Vikrant Massey shared his thoughts with news agency ANI, calling the third term historic. He expressed optimism about the next five years under the NDA government, praising the changes he has witnessed over the past decade. "India is a big country and change doesn't happen overnight, it requires time," Massey remarked.
