Sonia Gandhi re-elected as Congress parliamentary party chairperson

Former Congress president Sonia Gandhi was unanimously re-elected as the chairperson of the Congress parliamentary party on Saturday.

The decision was made during a meeting of party MPs, where Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge proposed her name for the position.

The proposal was supported by prominent Congress leaders Gaurav Gogoi, K Sudhakaran, and Tariq Anwar. At 77, Sonia Gandhi continues to hold significant influence within the party, having been elected to the Rajya Sabha in February.

In related developments, the Congress Working Committee (CWC) has unanimously urged Rahul Gandhi to assume the role of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. Rahul Gandhi has informed the party's leadership that he will make a decision on this matter "very soon."
