Jaipur: Four labourers lost their lives and five others are feared trapped after a soil caved in during pipeline excavation work in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, on Sunday morning, according to police reports.
Officials stated that the incident occurred near Jangi ka Nagla village, where workers were filling a 10-foot-deep trench dug for pipeline installation when the soil unexpectedly gave way.
A total of twelve workers were buried under the collapsed soil. Hearing their screams, fellow labourers and project staff tried to rescue them, but the weight and depth of the soil made the initial efforts extremely challenging, TNIE reported.
Rescue teams from the district administration, police, and disaster response units arrived at the site shortly after being informed. Earthmovers were deployed to clear the soil and reach the trapped workers.
Six labourers were pulled out during the rescue operation—four were declared dead, while two are receiving medical treatment at the district hospital. Five more remain trapped, and rescue efforts are ongoing, officials confirmed.
