Bhopal: Several men carrying rifles shot at a group of unarmed people killing six of a family, wounding two others in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena.
One of the two feuding families in the area targeted the other at around 10 am today at Lepa village 60 km away from district headquarters, NDTV reported.
The families of Dheer Singh Tomar and Gajendra Singh Tomar previously clashed in 2013 over waste dumping.
Back then, two members of Dheer Singh Tomar's family were killed following which Gajendra Singh Tomar's family fled the village.
Later, both the families reconciled outside a court, and afterwards, Gajendra Singh’s family returned to the village today.
Dheer Singh Tomar's family allegedly, as had it all planned ahead, attacked the other family with sticks, before opening fire.
Gajendra Singh Tomar and his two sons were among the six killed, according to the police.
Police linked the motive behind the murder to the enmity between the two groups.
‘The victims' relatives have been accused of murdering the family members of today's alleged killers,’ an official was quoted as saying.
Police have registered cases against eight people allegedly involved in the murders.
