New Delhi: Manish Sisodia on Friday lashed out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the delay in announcing the results of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi elections.
Sisodia said, "Stop crying like Congress. If you have the courage, fight (for MCD elections) with us. Winning even 10 seats will be a big achievement for you."
Mr Sisodia's comments follow the accusations made by Smriti Irani that Delhi had denied 13,000 crores in wages to MCD workers.
During a press conference earlier this month, Kejriwal expressed disappointment with the postponement of the municipal elections in the national capital, saying that this move "weakens the democratic system.".
Ms Irani said: "Today Kejriwal held a press conference (on the delay of MCD polls in Delhi). I want to know if he knows Nagar Nigam had sought reform last year? Delhi government made MCD employees pay *13000 crores in taxes. Kejriwal chooses to empty the Nagar Nigam treasury."
In addition, the Union Minister suggested Mr Kejriwal deposit 13,000 crores into MCD's account.
In an earlier statement, State Election Commissioner SK Srivastava said that the Centre has delayed announcing the polling dates for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election because the central government raised a few issues yet to be addressed by the Election Commission.
A bill to unify the three municipal corporations of Delhi is also planned to be introduced in Parliament during the budget session.
Additionally, he mentioned that the dates were about to be announced, but it will now take another five to seven days.
