Shaheen Bagh protest is a brainchild and a script of the BJP accuses AAP

New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party Chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party, a day after BJP Delhi unit claimed that key organisers of the Shaheen Bagh protest joined the party. The party accused that Shaheen Bagh protest is just a brainchild and a script of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The spokesperson said that the BJP fought the Delhi election in the name of Shaheen Bagh and that the whole protest was pre-planned and well scripted by the BJP top brass.

"The Delhi assembly election could have been fought on the work done in the field of education, health, environment or other developmental issues. But the Delhi BJP chose to fight the election on the issue of Shaheen Bagh," he added.

Bharadwaj said that the people who raised anti-national slogans or pro-Pakistan slogans or talked about dividing India are now part of the BJP.

"Yesterday the key people behind the Shaheen Bagh protest joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the presence of the senior leadership."

He added that the BJP won seats by engineering a riot and polarising north-east Delhi.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that BJP has portrayed a property dealer, who had been into several parties before, as an activist of Shaheen Bagh protests.

Shahzad Ali, a resident of Abul Fazl Enclave in Jamia Nagar, is the newly joined member of the party projected as BJP's new prize catch in a bid to boost its own campaign.

Though Shahzad Ali had taken part in the Shaheen Bhag protest, he was never in the role of an organiser.

Shahzad had shifted his political affiliation frequently in the past. He also has appeared on shared stages with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Ulema Council leader Moulana Tahir Madani, Mim Foundation leader Navaid Choudhary, Muslim Political Council of India leader Taslim Rahmani and others at different times.

On the heels of BJP campaign, Aam Admi Party has started a counter-campaign that BJP was behind the Shaheen Bagh protests. The AAP spokesperson added that police alleged that the people there raised pro-Pakistan slogans, anti-national slogans and the police did not do anything and just remained a silent spectator of these violations.
