Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan arrived at Arthur Road jail to meet son Aryan Khan for the first time after his arrest in the Cordelia cruise ship drugs case. Aryan Khan has been lodged in custody since October 8 with multiple bail applications having been rejected.
The visit followed the Maharashtra government's easing of restrictions surrounding jail visits due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Shah Rukh Khan spent a total of 20 minutes with his son. The last time the two spoke was by video call last Friday, with mother Gauri Khan also on the line.
A special court denied Aryan bail on Wednesday citing that his WhatsApp chat records were 'prima facie' evidence of intent to deal in 'illicit drug activities'. The court also said that the material placed on record points to a "nexus" between Aryan Khan and suppliers and peddlers. Although no drugs were found on Aryan Khan, he knew about six grams of charas hidden in his friend Arbaaz Merchant's shoe, and this amounted to "conscious possession".
