Kochi: Lakshadweep film-maker turned activist Aisha Sultana received notice from Kavaratti police to appear for another session of questioning Sedition case registered against her. She was asked to report at the Kavaratti police station on Wednesday at 10:30 am.

Sultana was already questioned by a team of four, four days ago. The session had spanned up to three hours, and she was ordered to stay on the island for another four days.

She had later said that the team asked her repeatedly why she used the word "bioweapon", what were her circumstances to use the word, who was she referring to, the Centre or the islands' administrator himself etc.

She said that she had repeated before them what she wrote on her Facebook page as an explanation. She had used the word allegorically and was criticising the situation the country was going through. She said that by using the word "bioweapon", she was not referring to India but the administrator of Lakshadweep himself.

Aisha Sultana had appeared in Kerala based news channel MediaOne TV discussion and had said that like China used the coronavirus as a "bioweapon" against the world, the Centre is using Praful Patel- Lakshadweep's administrator- against the Islanders.

This had infuriated the BJP, and the Lakshadweep unit of the party lodged a complaint about treason against Aisha Sultana, and the island police registered a case against her.
