New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a pending plea challenging the Centre's Electoral Bond Scheme of 2018, The Indian Express reported.
The Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana, told Advocate Prashant Bhushan who brought up the matter before the court, that the court couldn't hear the case earlier because of Covid-19. CJI assured Bhushan that they will hear the case.
Bhushan had sought an urgent hearing on the matter since there is news that a Kolkata based company has paid Rs 40 crore to avoid a raid. He said that it was distorting democracy.
The Supreme Court is considering the petitions filed by to NGOs, Common Cause and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), challenging the scheme.
