Palakkad/Kerala: Congress spokesperson in Kerala Sandeep Varier, who recently quit BJP due to his differences with the party, on Thursday shared a Facebook post completely critical of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over Mahatma Gandhi's killing. January 30th is being observed as Martyrs's Day in India, commemorating the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation.
In his post, Varier said that RSS extremists killed Gandhi, the soul of India.
The post said that RSS terrorists killed Gandhi, the soul of the nation, on January 30. However, no matter how often they try to erase the name and glory of Gandhi, it will remain immortal in the great nation of India, the post said.
Sandeep Warrier, who left the BJP and joined the Congress during the Palakkad by-election, was appointed as the party's spokesperson the other day. Party state president K Sudhakaran made the decision. Party General Secretary M. Liju sent a letter to the leaders regarding this. In the past few days, Sandeep started participating in TV channel discussions on behalf of the Congress party.
Varier, BJP’s spokesperson earlier, had serious issues with the party leadership in Kerala during the Palakkad by-elections and quit after.
After joining Congress, Varier has been critical of the party and RSS. He, who left the party in November last year, has made critical comments against both in multiple instances. In December, he exposed BJP's double standards in the matter of Waqf Board-land disputes. He shared a video from 2013 on social media in which BJP leader Shanawaz Hussain could be seen backing the Congress-led Centre's Waqf Board Amendment Bill that year. He could be heard saying in the video that even government establishments erected on Waqf land must be evacuated.
