Ready to work with India toward stability in border areas: China

New Delhi: Just as the tension seeps into the border, China expressed willingness to work with India toward steady and sound growth of bilateral relations.

Only days before troops of India and People’s Liberation Army (PLA) engaged in clashes at Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, leading to further low in relations.

"We stand ready to work with India in the direction toward steady and sound growth of China-India relations, "Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi was quoted by ANI as saying.

Wang Yi said that India and China communicated through diplomatic channels and are committed to uphold stability in border areas.

At the 17th commander-level talks held on December 20, India and China agreed to maintain security and stability on the ground in the Western Sector.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs said that “two sides agreed to maintain security and stability on the ground in the Western sector”, adding that both sides agreed to work out remaining issues at the earliest.

Another flare-up between troops of both nations in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on December 9 saw both sides sustaining minor injuries.

The clash along the LAC came amid the over 30-month border standoff between the two sides in eastern Ladakh, according to the report.

Following the clash, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told the Parliament that Indian Army made Chinese troops to retreat after they tried to 'unilaterally' change the status quo in the Yangtse area.
