Mumbai: Politics in Maharashtra turns into a heady mix of mud-slinging and name-calling.
After MNS chief Raj Thackeray's attack on NCP president Sharad Pawar, NCP president Jayant Patil came down on Raj Thackeray on Wednesday.
Jayant Patil said that Raj Thackeray was attacking NCP leader at the behest of BJP.
Patil was talking to reporters at Mangaon in Raigad, a day after Thackeray hit out at NCP leaders at a rally in neighbouring Thane, PTI reported.
During a rally on Thursday, Thackeray criticised Patil mentioning the latter's first name as " Jant" a Marathi word for germs.
Patil without mincing words hit back saying that Thackeray was a student of Balmohan Vidya Mandir school in Dadar, so he ' he is fine with grammar'.
Even so, he made a mistake, Patil said, quipping that people at Balmohan Vidya Mandir should be asked if they could hold sessions for former students who have forgotten grammar.
Jayant Patil accused BJP in Maharashtra of harbouring a grudge against Pawar.
Because, he reasoned, NCP chief with Shiv Sena and Congress formed the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in the state.
He accused Thackeray of doing BJP's bidding. He blamed that Thackeray was the one who took responsibility of crticising Pawar.
Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson Clyde Crasto claimed the development plan of the MNS has "disappeared like the BJP's 'vikas' (development) plank", PTI reported.
Alongside, Thackeray on Tuesday said Sharad Pawar was playing politics of caste.
He wondered why the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the family members of NCP leader and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, but not Sharad Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule.
