Mumbai: Actor R. Madhavan has said he has full faith that the government will take the necessary corrective steps in the wake of the alleged NEET paper leak controversy.
In a social media post, Madhavan appealed to students not to lose hope and urged them to continue believing in themselves despite the uncertainty surrounding the issue.
He said education should be fair, transparent and based on merit, and added that incidents like paper leaks damage the trust of students and parents and affect the hard work and dreams of young people.
Madhavan also called on the government to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice quickly and that the punishment is strong enough to deter any future attempts to undermine the system.
Acknowledging past lapses in the case, he said he believed the government would take corrective action, strengthen the process and protect the integrity of education for future generations.
He further told students not to be anxious or disheartened, saying their talent, perseverance and character are greater than the shortcomings of any system.
His statement comes at a time when students across the country are protesting over the alleged NEET paper leak and other examination irregularities, demanding transparency, strict action and the resignation of the Union Education Minister.
Activist Sonam Wangchuk has also extended support to the students and recently went on a fast for more than two weeks before being admitted to a hospital in Delhi.
