Punishment: CEO makes officials stand for keeping elderly waiting

New Delhi: The CEO of the Noida residential plot department punished some 16 employees under him for keeping people waiting at their counters. The punishment was to stand 20-odd minutes while the visuals of employees standing appeared online.

Noida CEO Dr Lokesh M issued an order after he got infuriated with the staff for making people wait at counters for long durations, NDTV reported.

It is reported that there are 65 CCTV cameras installed at the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority's office, which is visited by hundreds of Noida residents every day. CEO Lokesh, a 2005-batch IAS officer, used to scan footage of these cameras and advised staff not to keep people waiting, especially senior citizens, for long.

However, Lokesh found an elderly man standing at a counter, and he met the woman official at the counter and asked her not to keep the elderly waiting and to tell the person clearly if his need could not be met. But, the CEO found the elderly man at the same spot even after 20 minutes, which infuriated him, prompting him to punish all the officials at the office.

The visuals of the punishment show officials, including women, standing and working during the 20 minutes.

Netizens were all praises for CEO Lokesh, saying that such actions are necessary to ensure prompt response in government offices, NDTV reported.
