Promotional material removed as model code of conduct comes into force

Ahmedabad, March 17: As the Election Commission of India announced poll schedules on Saturday, authorities in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad removed over 7,000 promotional materials from public and private properties.

As soon as the code came into effect, on the first day, 7,028 promotional items were removed from various locations.

About 3,022 wall paintings, 767 posters, 253 banners, and various other promotional materials were removed from public spaces, along with 1,142 wall paintings, 165 posters, and 429 banners from private properties.

The district election machinery, led by the District Election Officer and Collector Pravina D.K., is engaged in the ongoing process.

Gujarat will hold elections on May 7 and hold the counting on June 4.
