Pregnant woman carried to hospital in ‘doli’ for 20 km in Telangana

New Delhi: A pregnant woman in Telangana had to suffer long uncomfortable journey to hospital in a makeshift stretcher, NDTV reported.

She was taken through a forest stretch in ‘doli’ as ambulance could not reach the village having no road connectivity.

When the tribal woman from Bhadradri Kothagudem district developed labour pain, her family had no choice but use a ‘doli’.

Two men of her family carried the woman over their shoulders for about 20 km to the Satyanarayanapuram Primary Health Centre.

The woman delivered the baby at the Bhadrachalam Government Hospital where she was taken afterwards in an ambulance.

The mother and the baby, according to the officials, are doing well.
