Portrait at Rashtrapati Bhavan of Subash Chandra Bose indeed

Fact-checking website AltNews has revealed that the controversial poster of Subash Chandra Bose, unveiled in the Rashtrapati Bhavani today, indeed used the image of Bose as a reference and not of Bengali actor Prosenjit Chatterjee, as Twitterati claims. Users on Twitter, including renowned politicians from the Congress and Trinamool Congress, journalists, and other prominent figures shared the opinion that the painting was based on Chatterjee who played Bose in Srihit Mukherjee's film Gumnumah in 2019.

AltNews, with the help of reverse image search, has found that the painting by Paresh Maity used the photograph of Subash Chandra Bose posted by his grand-nephew and BJP Leader Chandra Kumar Bose as reference. Journalist Nistula Hebbar also tweeted that the painting is based on a photograph provided by Bose's grand-niece Jayanti Bose Rakshit.

Actor Chatterjee tweeted that he is 'elated' that people thought the painting resembled his character.
