Police recover crores in cash and kilograms of gold from former government bus driver in West Bengal

Police officers recovered several crores in cash along with kilograms of gold from the residence of a former government bus driver in West Bengal's Birbhum district on Wednesday.

The individual, identified as Minar Mondal, previously worked as a state bus driver before resigning a few years ago to enter the stone trading business alongside his relative, local businessman Tulu Mondal. Following a targeted search operation at his residence, law enforcement personnel brought in multiple trunks and note-counting machines to process the massive haul of physical currency.

Visuals from the scene showed a heavy police deployment surrounding the house while the search and inventory operations continued inside. Police sources noted that the counting process was expected to last through the evening, and an official figure for the total cash seized will be announced once the count concludes.

The sudden discovery of immense wealth at the residence of the driver-turned-businessman has placed Mondal under intense scrutiny from law enforcement and investigating authorities.
