Chandigarh: A businessman and his family in Chandigarh gets security cover for a week following threats from a BJP MP and her aide, The Indian Express reported.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court directed Chandigarh police to protect businessman Chaittnya Aggarwal, his wife and their two minor daughters from the alleged threats of BJP MP Kirron Kher and her political aide Sahdev Salaria.
‘It shall be appropriate that the concerned Superintendent of Police and the concerned SHO provide appropriate protection to the petitioner for one week from today,’ a bench of Justice Anoop Chitkara ordered on Monday.
The order further said: ‘As such, respondent No.1 (UT/Chandigarh) is directed to ensure protection of petitioner and his family and direct the concerned Superintendent of Police/SHO to provide them protection for a period of one week.’
Chaittnya Aggarwal submitted through senior advocate Anmol Rattan Sidhu about threat to himself and his family from the BJP leader and aide.
Aggarwal in his petition claimed Salaria, whom he came to know through a BJP worker, introduced himself as a financier dealing the money of influential people including Kher.
Aggarwal alleged, the MP gave him Rs 8 crore for investment, to be returned after profits.
The petitioner claimed to have invested the money and returned Kher Rs crore; however, due to market fluctuations in November, he sought more time to return the remaining amount, according to The Indian Express.
However, the MP and her aide issued threats, demanding to return money immediately with interest.
