New Delhi: Following the extra problematic remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi that the Congress will distribute the nation's wealth among Muslims, the Election Commission declined to comment on Monday. In a deliberate attempt to falsely interpret former PM Manmohan Singh's words, Modi made the problematic comment in Rajasthan to boost the BJP's polls campaign.
The poll panel spokesperson told the media that it declined to comment, Scroll reported.
Modi on Sunday said that Congress will distribute citizen's property among Muslims and 'infiltrators' if the party is voted to power. Modi claimed that Congress's manifesto discusses calculating the "amount of golf that mothers and sisters have, get information and distribute that property."
He claimed that when Congress was in power last time, the party said that Muslims have the first right over the country's assets. This means the party is going to distribute the nation's wealth to "those who have more children and those who are infiltrators", Modi claimed. He added that the "urban naxals" will not spare "even the mangalsutras of my mothers and sisters".
On December 9 2006, then PM Manmohan Singh said that the country's priorities must be to uplift Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minorities and women and children. "They must have the first claim on resources", Singh had said then, which Modi bent for the election gains of the BJP.
The opposition leaders across the nation condemned Modi's remark, called it hate speech and demanded action against the PM. Congress party said that those who create divisions among people through their statements in poll campaigns must be disqualified from the electoral process. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) Liberation demanded a ban on Modi from election campaigns, according to Deccan Herald.
