PM Modi to reply to motion of thanks on President's Address to Parliament

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the motion of thanks on the President's Address to Parliament on Wednesday.

The opposition on Tuesday alleged the BJP-led government over the Adani Group controversy. Rahul Gandhi said the Centre is favouring the corporate and it gets all the contracts including the overseas ones. "Earlier he used to travel in Adani's aircraft and now Adani travels with Modiji in his aircraft. First, the matter was limited to Gujarat then the country and now he has become international," said Rahul Gandhi on Motion of Thanks to the President's Address.

He alleged that PM Modi went to Australia and by magic, SBI gave a $1 billion loan to Adani. The PM goes to Bangladesh and the power development board of the country signs a 25-year contract with Adani.

He questioned how much money Adani gave to the BJP in the last 20 years.

The Opposition continued its demands for a Joint Parliamentary Committee investigation into the matter. This resulted in stalled proceedings in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. In a 53-minute speech in Lok Sabha, Rahul displayed photos of Gautam Adani and PM Modi to claim their proximity and listed out business deals the Adani Group got since 2014.

Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Wednesday responded to the demands and said Rahul Gandhi's statement should be expunged and a notice should be served to him. "As per Parliament rules, no allegations can be made unless prior notice is given by an MP. A privilege motion should be moved against him," reported ANI.
