Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday joined several other public personalities in attending the 'Shubh Aashirwad' (blessings ceremony) of the newlyweds Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant.
The youngest son of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and the daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant tied the knot at a ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on Friday.
Bollywood stars, politicians and international celebrities showed up at the ceremony.
The shubh aashirwad ceremony, held on the second day of the wedding ceremony, is for the newlyweds and their family members to seek blessings from priests.
Footage showed PM Modi meeting Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant with the newlyweds kneeling down and touch PM Modi's feet to seek his blessings.
As they stood with their hands folded in gratitude, PM Modi can be seen giving a gift to the couple.
It is reported that the 'Mangal Utsav' or wedding reception will be held on Sunday.
Before turning up at the event, PM Modi launched projects including road, railway and port in Mumbai worth ₹ 29,000 crore.
