Pilgrims' bus crashes in Maharashtra, killing 10

Nashik: A speeding private luxury bus carrying Shirdi Saibaba devotees crashed into a truck in Patharde in Maharashtra's Nashik, killing at least ten people and injuring five on Friday, IANS reported.

The accident happened at 7:00 in the morning, when the bus coming from Ambernath in Thane was heading to Shirdi, the temple town in Ahmednagar.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed grief over the tragedy and announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the kin of all the deceased and free medical treatment for all the injured victims.

Shinde also ordered a probe into the accident, the causes and related aspects, said an official.

There were at least six women among those who lost their lives and a man, while the rest were children. Those injured were admitted to Sinnar Rural Hospital, and some serious ones were taken to Pune hospitals.
