Passengers stuck in extreme heat as Delhi-San Francisco AI flight delayed by 20 hours

New Delhi: An Air India aircraft from Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport to San Francisco was delayed by more than 20 hours, causing significant hardship for the passengers. Flight AI 183 will take off at 11 am today instead of its intended scheduled time of 3:20 pm on Thursday. The explanation given for the delay was "operational issues."

The passengers who were stuck were made much more miserable by the rising temperatures in the nation's capital. The absence of air conditioning inside the flight is said to have caused some occupants to pass out.

It is said that some passengers passed out from being forced to wait without enough air conditioning during the excessive delay. Some passengers vented out on platform X.

One Shweta Punj said that "passengers were made to board the plane without air conditioning, and then deplaned after some people fainted in the flight. This is inhuman!," she said.

Air India responded to Shweta Punj by expressing "regret."

"Please be rest assured that our team is actively working to address the delay and appreciate your ongoing support and understanding. We are also alerting our team to provide necessary assistance to the passengers," Air India said.
