Malappuram: P V Anvar, the state convener of the All India Trinamool Congress, has claimed that some Left leaders were sending their party workers to attack him and UDF workers and warned them of retaliation.

He made the comments in response to the UDF's successful takeover of the Chungathara panchayat from the LDF on Tuesday.

He has been trying to find a way into the UDF, but so far, the party has not officially accepted him, despite his public expressions of support.

In a video clip of his speech aired on TV channels on Wednesday, P V Anvar, the former MLA from the Nilambur constituency, has publicly accused Left leaders of orchestrating violent attacks against him and UDF activists. Anvar alleged that Left leaders supply their party workers with liquor and drugs to carry out these assaults.

"If you do that, we will come to your homes and smash your heads. So better be mindful of your own health," Anvar warned.

He alleged that the Left party has attacked and subjugated a lot of people.

"But we will only hit at the head. The heads which send workers to attack us. That is all I have to say," he contended.

The Left has maintained silence over Anvar's allegations.

Anvar further said that he has not learnt to do politics by hiding, instead he leads from the forefront.

He alleged that local Left leaders' threats against him and his supporters are a result of "Pinarayism," essentially pointing fingers at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's style of politics.

Anvar resigned as the MLA after switching to the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), prompting a by-election in the Nilambur constituency.

Following a public fallout with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, P V Anvar made a significant switch from the Left Democratic Front (LDF), joining the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC). This move came after Anvar had won the Nilambur constituency with the LDF's support. In a surprising turn of events, Anvar has announced that he will not contest the by-election and has instead extended his support to the United Democratic Front (UDF).
