Owaisi doubts UP police version of accidental firing death of constable Yakoob

Hyderabad MP and AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has raised doubts over the accidental firing incident that led to the death of Uttar Pradesh constable Yakoob. Taking to social media platform X, Owaisi questioned the circumstances of the incident, particularly the body position of Yakoob when he was hit by the bullet. He expressed hope for a thorough investigation.

AIMIM Chief Asaduddin OwaisiAccording to reports, constable Yakoob was shot in the head and died from a bullet "accidentally" fired from Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajeev's jammed pistol during a raid in Aligarh to arrest suspects involved in cow slaughter.

The official statement claims SI Rajeev was attempting to load his jammed pistol when it discharged, with the bullet passing through his abdomen before hitting Yakoob.

The deceased constable's family has expressed scepticism about the official explanation and has called for a detailed investigation. Yakoob's father, speaking to the media, demanded clarity and justice for his son's untimely death.

A video of the injured SI Rajeev has surfaced on social media, providing his account of the incident. In the video, Rajeev stated that following a tip-off, his team went to apprehend the suspects. During the encounter, his pistol jammed, and while attempting to unjam it, a bullet was accidentally fired. This bullet grazed Rajeev's abdomen and fatally struck Yakoob in the head.

The incident has sparked controversy and calls for a transparent investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and provide justice to the grieving family.
