New Delhi: Self-styled guru Bhole Baba’s spiritual meeting on Tuesday turned out to be a deathtrap for over 121 people following a stampede.
Now NDTV reported that Bhole Baba, who is also known as Narayan Saakar Hari, previously organised similar satsang in UP's Farrukhabad in 2022 during Covid.
The religious gathering took place while the pandemic was raging with district administration allowing attendance for only 50 people.
Obviously flouting all restrictions, over 50,000 people showed up at the meet, according to the report.
The godman, who is reported to be indifferent to media, has a security team named "Narayani Sena" to escort him from his ashram to the satsang locations.
Born Suraj Pal Singh in Bahadur Nagari village in Uttar Pradesh's Etah district to a famer, Bhole Baba was a head constable with UP police’s Intelligence Unit for over 18 years.
After voluntary retirement in 1999, he began holding satsangs having his name changed to Narayan Saakar Hari.
He claimed to have felt an ‘inclination’ to spirituality and world peace, there started his ‘spiritual journey’.
Narayan Saakar Hari, who has a large following in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, claimed to be living in a hut in his village.
He always wears a white suit and tie or Kurta pyjama to his satsangs, unlike other godmen, and his wife Prem Bati usually accompanies him.
Narayan Hari claimed to be distributing the money, offered to him at satsangs, among his followers.
