Over 12,000 kg of drugs to be destroyed in Amit Shah's presence in Gujarat

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address a meeting in Gujarat's Gandhinagar as part of destroying over 12,000 kilograms of seized drugs on Wednesday evening.

A total of 12,438.96 kg of seized drugs valued at ₹ 632.68 crores will be destroyed, according to a report in NDTV.

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has targeted to destroy in 75 days 75,000 kg of seized drugs to mark India's 75th year of independence.

Authorities in Gujarat have pulled off the target destroying more than one lakh kg of drugs with 60 days.

The meeting on drug trafficking and national security will be attended by chief ministers, deputy chief ministers and administrators from Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

The mission was started on July 30 this year by destroying more than 31,000 kg of drugs in Chandigarh.

A fortnight ago, as many as 40,000 kg of drugs and narcotic substances were destroyed in Guwahati in Shah's presence.
