Nurse injects empty syringe in vaccination drive in Bihar; Video viral

A video of a nurse allegedly injecting an empty syringe into the arms of a young man during a Covid vaccination drive conducted in Bihar on June 21 has gone viral on social media. The incident allegedly took place at the Covid vaccination centre in Behrampur Imambara Madarsa in Chapra town in Bihar's Saran.

The video was captured by Aman Khan, who accompanied his friend Azher Hussain to the vaccination centre. The nurse is seen injecting a syringe into Azher's arm without filling it while interacting with others. Neither of the two observed that the syringe was empty at the moment and returned home. However, on replaying the video at home, they realised that an empty syringe was injected into Azher's arm.

"I made the video just for fun, to record his reaction while being administered the jab. While checking the video in the evening, we realised that the nurse just removed the plastic cover over the syringe and put it in my friend," Aman said, as reported by NDTV.

The nurse concerned has been removed from the Covid centre following the incident. The Health Department has also issued a showcause notice. However, the Civil Surgeon of Saran district has not responded upon the incident.
