NSA invoked against MP man seen ‘urinating on tribal’

Bhopal: After an alleged video of Pravesh Shukla urinating on a tribal guy went viral on social media, the Madhya Pradesh Police detained him on Tuesday and charged him under the National Security Act (NSA).

Police said that after sending out multiple squads, one of them was able to locate Shukla, who was allegedly changing his location. He was detained late last night, and the police are now questioning him.

A case against the accused has been filed by the police under NSA as well as sections 294 (obscene acts and songs), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause disturbance of peace), and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities Act) of the Indian Penal Code, Indian Express reported.

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan demanded that the accused be slapped with the NSA after seeing the footage from about three months ago and asked that serious action be taken by the authorities.

“A viral video of Sidhi district has come to my notice. I have instructed the administration to arrest the culprit and take strict action and also impose NSA (National Security Act),” Chouhan had tweeted.

The Congress has alleged that Shukla is a close friend of BJP Sidhi MLA Kedarnath Shukla, a claim both the party and the MLA have refuted.

Reacting to his arrest, BSP supremo Mayawati said, “In this regard, the BJP government of Madhya Pradesh should take action against that criminal not only by NSA but by confiscating/demolishing his property, leaving aside the idea of saving the criminal and not telling him that he belongs to his party. Such incidents bring shame to everyone. “
