New Delhi: "First they came for activists; then they came for students; then they came for farmers; now they are coming for lawyers; Next they will come for you," said senior advocate Prashant Bhushan after the raids conducted by Delhi Police at the Supreme Court lawyer Mehmood Pracha's office.

In a Twitter post where he tagged the news about the raid, Bhushan asked if this could be called a Democracy.

Senior Advocate Indira Jaising described the raid "a direct attack on the fundamental right of the right to legal representation."

Advocate and Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari expressed disapproval over the incident and asked the Bar Council to take up the arbitrary harassment ASAP.

Advocate Utsav Bains cried foul over the raid and said that lawyers will not be able to work in an environment where their offices are raided by the police for providing legal representation.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police carried out a 15 hour-long search operation at the office of Mehmood Pracha on Thursday which lasted till 3 am Monday.

It is worth to note that Pracha is one of the lawyers appearing for the defence in the Delhi Riots cases.
