Noida twin tower demolition today, security beefed up

Noida: The twin sky scrapers that tower above Noida will be pulled down at 2.30 pm on Sunday.

Detailed preparations are in place ahead of the razing of the buildings that will take nine seconds, according to reports.

The residents in the surroundings have been moved to safer places, the areas has been closed off to traffic, and the airspace will also be shut down for about 30 minutes.

South African-based Jet Demolitions is also associating with Mumbai-based Edifice Engineering to demolish by far the biggest of its kind razing of a development project in the nation.

Joe Brinkmann, CEO and managing director of Jet Demolitions, a South African-based firm, said bringing down the twin towers is one of the most difficult tasks since the building is strong and built in seismic zone.

Supertech's illegal Twin Towers which comprise 915 flats located just nine metres from Emerald Court's Aster-2 apartment block, have been fully rigged with explosives and wired up top to bottom.

A seven-member team of Jet Demolitions and Edifice Engineering will bring down the twin towers in a controlled blast.

This will be the tallest towers to be demolished in the country.

"We are just doing preparations for the final day. We are just making checks for the final day so that there are no disturbances. It is one of the most difficult tasks, building is strong and built in a seismic zone", said Joe Brinkmann while talking to the media.

He said, "But we have designed the plan and implemented it to meet the challenges. The progression of the blast -- the buildings will be pulled away from North from aster-2 towards the south and then collapse".
