New Delhi: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday shared a footage of India’s first eight-lane elevated express highway, connecting Delhi and Haryana.
Captioned as ‘Marvel of Engineering: The Dwarka Expressway! A State-of-the-Art Journey into the Future’, the footage shows classy modern roadways cutting across green expanse.
The four-package highway that runs the length of 563 km, thus helps accessing several outlying places.
Dwarka Expressway starts from Shiv Murti on National Highway 8 to Kherki Daula toll plaza in Gurugram, NDTV reported.
This is the first of its kind project in India which required the central government to transplant 1,200 trees.
The footage claims that the express highway will cut travel time between Dwarka and Manesar to 15 minutes, and Manesar to Indira Gandhi International Airport to 20 minutes.
From Manesar to Singhu border, it will take 45 minutes alongside connecting the International Convention Centre in Dwarka, Sector 25.
The expressway comes with three-lane service roads on both sides, and to cut congestion, these service lanes have entry points.
The express highway required two lakh tonnes of steel, which is 30 times more than it had taken for the Eiffel Tower.
The project used 20 lakh cubic metre cement concrete, which is six times more than what Burj Khalifa needed, according to the report.
