Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday attached a property in Kashmir’s Kupwara district owned by Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Bashir Ahmad Peer who was shot dead in Pakistan two weeks ago.
Bashir Ahmad Peer alias Imtiyaz Alam was killed after unknown gunmen arrived on a motorbike fired at him as he was standing outside a shop in in Rawalpindi on February 20, NDTV reported.
In October last year, India designated Peer as a wanted terrorist after he reportedly provided logistic support and terrorists for infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir.
Peer, who was the ‘launching chief’ of Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan, reportedly played a key role in recruiting and dispatching arms and ammunition alongside infiltrators into Kashmir Valley.
Attachment of Ahmad Peer’s property comes after NIA attached the house of terrorist Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar alias Latram on Thursday.
Mushtaq Ahmad Zargar alias Latram, who is living in Pakistan and is wanted in India, was released from prison in exchange of the hijacked Indian Airlines flight IC-814 at Kandahar in December 1999.
In exchange for passengers, Lartam along with Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief Masood Azhar and Omar Sayeed Sheikh were released.
