New case filed by ED against Soren for skipping summons

Ranchi: Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was further embroiled in problems on Tuesday as the ED filed another case against him for ignoring summons issued by the investigation body. Despite getting ten summons from the ED, Soren only appeared before the agency for questioning twice, worsening his legal problems.

The complaint details its attempts to summon Soren in connection with a money laundering investigation involving a land scam. According to sources, the ED aims to seize 8.5 acres of land in Bargain, Ranchi, which Soren allegedly obtained illegally for the construction of a banquet facility, the New Indian Express reported.

WhatsApp messages obtained from Soren's aide Binod Kumar Singh's cell phones revealed intentions to build the hall, which was an intriguing turn of events. A 13-page remand report given to the Special PMLA Court revealed that Singh and Soren exchanged proposed banquet hall plans on April 6, 2021.
