NCRB report shows decline in rape, murder cases in Uttar Pradesh

New Delhi: The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) showed rape and murder are on the decline in Uttar Pradesh in 2021.

The report said that UP ranked 23 rd in rape recording 2845 cases and 24 th in murder with 3, 717 cases, according to India Today.

As for crime against children, the ranked 28 th, reporting 16,838 cases; when it comes to kidnapping for ransom, UP stands at 36 th with 50 cases among 28 states and 8 union territories.

NCRB report said that the conviction rate in Uttar Pradesh is the highest nationally in most crimes.

Compared to 2019, crimes against women and children in UP have dropped by 6.2 percent and 11.11 percent respectively in 2021.

The state reported 59,853 cases of crime against women in 2019, which has come down to 56,083 in 2021.

The crime against children came down from 18,943 cases in 2019 to 16,838 in 2021.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath can boast of reducing communal violence to just one case, while Jharkhand was plagued with 100 cases and Maharashtra with 77 cases and Rajasthan with 22 cases.

Recording 8,829 cases of cybercrimes in 2021, the state achieved a decline from 11,416 cases in 2019, while nationally and globally cybercrimes are on the rise.

The latest national report about crimes started a debate around law and order and social well-being.
