Navodaya students in J'khand shut themselves up protesting bad food in school

Ranchi: Students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Jharkand' Simdega on Wednesday locked themselves up protesting against bad food served in the school.

176 students couldn't wait any more as their complaints fell on deaf ears. They en masse shut themselves up in a hall in school asking Deputy Commissioner to listen to them.

They were indoors for over six hours until Deputy Commissioner Sushant Gaurav turned up and assured them of taking action.

All along students had been complaining of bland food served in the school. They had a slew of other complaints as regards study and hostel.

The trouble began after breakfast Wednesday morning. Students of class 9 and 12 thronged in a hall complaining the school management of poor quality food.

Despite umpteen complaints, none was heedful of their issues they said,

Afterwards, the shut themselves up in the hall. Authorities tried to talk them out of their derring-do protest.

They wouldn't cower down to pressure and stood their grounds saying they would come out only after Deputy Commissioner listened to them.

The drama went on for about six hours when the official turned up. The students opened door and poured their hearts out to  him.

They complained of the bland food in the mess, among other issues. The Deputy Commissioner heard them out and assured them that problems would be resolved and initiate actions against those responsible.

However, the official also said that those who had misled the students would be identified and action would be taken against them.
