Muslim man weeps over torment he endured at Delhi police station while trying to file complaint
The torment and assault suffered by a Muslim man at the hands of Delhi Police after he tried to file a complaint about an e-rickshaw theft along with the alleged thief can be heard in a video that has surfaced on social media, in which he alleges that he was beaten by the police.
The victim, identified as Sameer, is a resident of Yadav Nagar in Delhi who drives an e-rickshaw from Jeevan Park, and he toils daily to provide a living for his dependent mother. His vehicle was stolen recently, and as he was so dependent on it, he managed to find it along with the thief.
Sameer led both the vehicle and the suspected thief directly into the local police station, for he anticipated that a First Information Report could be initiated against the thief with the expectation of getting justice.
Instead, Sameer was met with hostility, and the very officers pledged to uphold justice allegedly subjected him to severe physical violence, as he alleged in the video where he can be seen weeping while narrating the torment he had undergone in the police station, resulting in the breakage of his finger.
His repeated pleas of innocence before the officers yielded no results, leaving him heavy-hearted after being disregarded, while his complaint was seen being crushed under the feet at the very place from which he had hoped for justice.
Weeping profusely, Sameer warned the public against seeking solace from law enforcement in times of distress, and he voiced profound fear that knowledge of his brutalisation would utterly devastate his ailing mother, concluding bitterly that he would have remained safer had he never sought justice at all.
