Mumbai: A man in Mumbai shared on social media the visuals of medicine tablet containing in the food he ordered via Swiggy from Leopold Café in the city, India Today reported.
Ujwal Puri, a photographer, had placed an order for Chicken in Oyster Sauce online from the café in Colaba on the eve of Christmas.
He was not however prepared for the medicine strip contained in the food.
‘My Mumbai Christmas Surprise ordered food from Swiggy from Leopold Colaba got this half cooked medicine in my food,’ he reportedly said, adding ‘Just found this in my food from Leopold (Chicken in Oyster Sauce)’.
As the post went viral, Swiggy quickly responded to Ujwal saying ‘We have got your DM, see you there.’
Following this, a representative from Swiggy reacted: ‘We expect better from our restaurant partners, Ujwal. Do allow us a moment while we look into this.’
Many on social media responded to the incident with one user saying that ‘Leopold’s food quality has been deteriorating over time. But this is a new low!’
Another user said ‘Damn they sent a medicine because they don't want your stomach to get upset. WTF Swiggy! Seriously?’
Leopold Cafe, built in 1871, was among the places where terrorists unleashed attack in 2008.
