Multiple-vehicle collision on Delhi-Lucknow highway amid dense fog

In Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district, a collision involving several vehicles occurred on the Delhi-Lucknow Highway due to reduced visibility caused by dense fog in the Delhi-NCR region on Wednesday morning.

The collision involved approximately half a dozen vehicles, including two large trucks, resulting in injuries, including a police officer.

The incident prompted a swift response from police officials who arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations with the assistance of a crane. Severe cold and fog persisted in the national capital and the broader North Indian region, with Delhi recording a minimum temperature of 10°C.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported very dense fog in isolated areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi, along with moderate fog in specific parts of West Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. The official IMD X handle posted, "The INSAT 3DR Image of 0530 hrs IST shows Dense Fog layer over South Punjab, Haryana & Delhi seen as a white patch overlapped by Medium/High Clouds in Red Patches."

The prevailing weather conditions led to visibility challenges across Delhi, causing delays and cancellations of several flights arriving at or departing from the capital. Similar disruptions were experienced in flight and train services on Tuesday due to dense fog engulfing the national capital and extensive areas of North India.
